Description

Forgetting to remove a faded, dull and worn-out pitot tube cover can jeopardize the safety of you and your passengers. When cold weather prevents you from installing your pinch-and-insert style blade pitot cover, ice and snow can contaminate your pitot system. Some blade pitot covers also cause damage to paint when the sleve is being forced on and off.

The highly conspicuous and very durable Plane Sights Blade Pitot Cover is a perfect fit for any aircraft with a blade-type pitot tube or Piper gear extension mast. Properly installed, it's guaranteed not to blow off, fade in the sun or wear out for at least two years. Fits Piper, Katana, some Rockwell, late Grumman, Lake 250, and all other aircraft with a blade-type pitot tube.
(As seen on the 2008 AOPA "Get Your Glass" sweepstakes aircraft)

4 of 5 The best available, but not yet perfect April 27, 2020

This is the 3rd Plane Sights Blade Pitot cover I've bought from Brown in the past 3 years.  The cover itself does a very quite good job, and the combination velcro and bungie-cord arrangement to secure the cover to the blade is an ingenious design.  However, the bungie cord on each of the previous two covers became frayed and stretched-out after barely 1 year of normal use.  If the manufacturer could get the bungie right, this blade pitot cover would deserve a 5-star rating, and would be one of the best kept secrets on the market.

5 of 5 Best blade-type pitot cover on the market July 23, 2018

This is my second Blade Pitot Cover from Brown Aircraft, in about 2 years.  In terms of the basic design and durability, I think it's the best on the market.  The only weak spot is the bungy cord:  While it works great (in conjunction with the Velcro wrap) to keep the cover secure in all sorts of weather and wind, the bungy cord has become all stretched-out, making it difficult to use.  If not for the bungy cord, I'm sure my first cover would have given me another few years of service.  Maybe I can repair it and have a spare.

5 of 5 Blade Pitot Cover August 11, 2016

An online photo of this product caught my attention, so for the price I figured I'd try it out as a replacement for the traditional "hard" plastic Piper pitot mast cover I've used for many years.  My initial impression is that the materials and construction are rugged and well made, and the cover should last a long time.  The combination Velcro and bungee loop to secure the cover to the pitot mast is clever, and the connection seems very secure.  Since the cover itself is fabric (rather than hard plastic), I hope that water doesn't seep in, pool, and work its way into the pitot-static plumbing.  In the past I've actually had this problem with hard plastic covers, so am always looking for a better mast cover.  But on first impression, I'm satisfied with my purchase.
